Honda Motor Company
History:
A name associated with automobiles for decades, Honda is a
Japanese multinational public corporation as a manufacturer and distributor motor vehicles. Before the company
would become what it is today, it would start with one man. Honda Motor CO was established September 24, 1948 by
Soichiro Honda. A man who's love since childhood with cars and pistons would one day become a Multinational company. In childhood days he worked with his father who was a blacksmith and
had a successful bicycle repair business.
It was his father who taught him the importance of punctuality, as he
hated inconveniencing other people; which he would later apply to his life work
at Honda Motor co. As a kid, Honda’s first experience with cars was when one
drove through his village, he was very fascinated with it and years later could
still recall “the smell of the oil” as it drove away.
Years later after his education, in 1922 Honda got a janitor position at an Auto Repair shop where the owner would let Honda work in the second workshop where he would work on his racing cars. During the Earthquake of 1923 Honda in his first time behind the wheel, saved three cars by driving them out of a burning garage. It was after this that Honda was assigned as an assistant Mechanic and work with proprietors his team took first place at fifth Japan Motor Car Championship in November 23, 1924. Over the next five years the auto repair shop he worked for would be become very prosperous; but this wasn’t enough for Honda, he would work on creating new piston rings and investing his money into new research.
In 1946, Honda opened his ‘factory’ called Honda Technology Research institute witch years later would become The Honda Motor Company we know today. He would start his first two stroke model Motorcycle called ‘The Dream’ and not stop there. By 1958 The Honda Company was one of Japans largest Motorcycle manufactures, but they wouldn't limit themselves. By 1962 Honda released it's first auto, the S360. Consumers expected Honda to join the trend and begin automobile production. However, Soichiro Honda remained somewhat cautious about the matter, offering his opinion in the December 1959 issue of the Honda Company Newsletter “We shouldn’t rush into auto production,” he stated, “until we conduct thorough research and are absolutely confident that every requirement has been fulfilled, including the performance of our cars and production facilities.”

Honda’s Associate Relations Policies enforce no discrimination in the workplace, respect others ideas and differences, and security. Everyone employee or association of Honda has good morals.
Lawrence Kohlberg’s Stages of Ethical Reasoning states that there are three levels a company falls into; Honda falls into level 3: Post conventional. This stage is the highest level of ethical reasoning; a person makes a clear effort to define principles and moral values that reflect an individual value system rather them simply reflecting the group position. Honda falls into this category because they encourage individualism and diversity among its employees. Also the Company is committed to fulfilling its Corporate Responsibilities to its stakeholders. Honda has a set of fundamental beliefs including respect for the individual and the three joys. The three joys are the joys of Buying, Selling, and Creating. Their stated Code of Conduct is "Maintaining a global viewpoint, we are dedicated to supplying products of the highest quality, yet at a reasonable price for worldwide customer satisfaction"
When it comes to the Ethical Behavior of the company, Their CSR, and their Corporate Governance, all three are held to the highest standard; but if their if one appear to gets more attention, it's their Corporate Social Responsibility. Although the Corporate Governance is the Leadership, Honda considers the enhancement of its corporate governance structures to be a key management issue and engages in a program of associated initiatives in keeping with its fundamental beliefs in order to increase the level of trust of shareholders, investors, customers, and the general public so that it can be a company society wants to exist. "We have to aim for 120% product quality. If 99% of the products we make are perfect, that would seem like a pretty good record. However, the customers who become the owners of the remaining 1% will surely consider their products 100% defective. It is unacceptable that even one customer in a thousand–even one customer in ten thousand–should receive a defective product. That's why we have to aim for 120%." When founder Soichiro Honda said this he defined the company's fundamental approach to quality: what it means to strive to be a company society wants to exist. Determined to meet or exceed the expectations of customers, Honda is taking steps to reach ever-higher product quality standards. The Ethical Behavior of the Company can be compared to the Corporate Governance, to the highest standards.
The Human Resources fit in to these three Categories equally, but takes a small role. There aren't really any conflict of interests, except for selling the vehicles they make for more profit: but that's conflicting with the Mission statement which says provide the upmost quality for a decent price. Honda and the triple Bottom Line: Profits, Economic Responsibility, and Responsibility to its stakeholders have always been the number one priority. Since the size of corporate activities and their impact on society is so vast, there is a growing interest on how approaches to worldwide social responsibility will be implemented in the 21st century on issues such as global warming that is representative of environmental issues, changes to the markets in the global era and rapid advances in information technology.Honda considers the enhancement of its corporate governance structures to be a key management issue and engages in a program of associated initiatives in keeping with its fundamental beliefs in order to increase the level of trust of shareholders, investors, customers, and the general public so that it can be a company that the society wants it to exist, and achieve its goal of continually increasing its corporate value over time. Driven by a commitment to pass on a flourishing natural environment to future generations, Honda is involved in watershed preservation programs characterized by the participation of associates and their family members as volunteers in order to enrich the forests that bless the regions where the company operates worksites and leave them intact for future generations.
